How to Become a Painter & Decorator​​

If you are interested in becoming a Painter & Decorator, we highly recommend some of the following to help you on your way..........

CSQ Funded Trade Ready Program. The Aussie Painters Network CSQ Funded Trade Ready Program provides additional skills and experiences to individuals who have some entry level experience working in the building and construction industry general or civil sectors to build their job readiness and prepare them to transition into a career in building and construction.  This program is a fantastic way to get your foot in the door for a Painting apprenticeship.  There is a 3 week work placement component and participants are only placed with employers looking for an apprentice.  Previous participants of this program have started their Apprenticeship the day after their Work placement has finished!

 

 

Complete a Cert I in Construction. Cert I’s are programs run by many RTO’s. They are designed to give you the basic’s in construction, with many units within the course transferable as credits to the Painting & Decorating units.  So no need to complete the course components again. You will gain all of your Work Health and Safety Units along with your White Card.

 

Find an Employer; If you haven’t already the next step would be to find someone to take you on as an apprentice. The team of AP can help assist you in finding the right employer for you.

Stay Committed: Your apprenticeship can take several years to complete. The more committed you are the better you will progress through your apprenticeship

How the Painting & Decorating Apprenticeship Works

The Certificate III Painting & Decorating  is broken up between working on site and attending training with an RTO of your choice that provides the Certificate III in Painting & Decorating. PLEASE NOTE, to be enrolled in a Painting & Decorating Course, you need to be employed for the duration of your Apprenticeship.
